Quarter 1, week 7: 10/12 – 10/16 – Innovative students

SC.8.P.8.5  Recognize that there are a finite number of elements and that their atoms combine in a multitude of ways to produce compounds that make up all of the living and nonliving things that we encounter. 

Students will:

• differentiate between atoms, elements, and compounds
 • explain how elements combine to form compounds that make up all living and non-living things, for example: o atoms share/transfer electrons to create a bond between them  (students do not need to know covalent and ionic bonding)
