Learning Targets and Learning Criteria

I will differentiate between a claim and a statement.

I will write an introductory paragraph for my informative essay.

I will learn how to introduce evidence using MLA .

I will learn how to properly structure a body paragraph that has a premise (main idea), relevant evidence, and elaboration.

I will learn how to restate my claim and write a “mic drop” statement in my conclusion paragraph.

Complete the Nearpod on writing an introductory paragraph.

  • Students will learn how to use TAG (Title, Author, Genre) as an opening statement.  
  • They will learn to differentiate between a claim and a statement.
  • They will write the intro paragraph for their informative essay on “Thank You Ma’am,” a short story by Langston Hughes.
