Learning Targets and Learning Criteria

ELA learning target: Reading- Using anchor charts and visual instruction, students will use key words of sequencing to understand the importance of how this text structure helps the reader comprehend a text.

Writing: Students will use proper conventions in their daily writing journals. Students will continue to research and brainstorm about an animal that they will create a project about.

Social Studies Target: Students will identify the 3 branches of government and will specifically focus on the executive branch and its function in our society.

Classroom Activities

Students will use key word strategies for the text structure of sequencing in order to put events in the proper chronological order so the text is coherent (using fictional text).
Students will use the correct adverb and adjective in various sentences and understand the function of each.
Students will use vocabulary mapping and spelling sorts to understand their tier 2 vocabulary words and identify the various long e patterns in their spelling words in whole and small group.
Students will watch a Brain Pop video on the 3 branches of government and read a text focusing specifically on the executive branch.
