Learning Targets and Learning Criteria

ELA learning target: Reading- Using anchor charts and visual instruction, students will review the concepts of poetry and figurative language.

Writing: Students will practice the use of possessives and subject verb agreement.

Social Studies Target: Students will identify the different elements of a map and their functions.

Classroom Activities

*Students will view a powerpoint about poetry and figurative language that provides them with opportunities on identifying different poetry presented used and the various types of figurative language used in text.
*Students will use vocabulary mapping and spelling sorts to understand their tier 2 vocabulary words and identify the various compound words in their spelling words in whole and small group.
*Students will learn about the different map elements and continue their lapbooks as a record of their learning.
