Learning Targets and Learning Criteria
  • Students will build background knowledge of Charles Dickens.
  • Students will apply knowledge of context clues, figurative language, word relationships and background knowledge to determine the connotative and denotative meaning of words of phrases, appropriate to grade level. 
  • Students will engage in actively thinking about word meanings, the relationships among words, and how we can use words in different situations.
  • Students will use song lyrics to analyze poetic devices.
