Learning Targets and Learning Criteria

ELA learning target: Reading- Using anchor charts and visual instruction, students will read various fictional texts and identify different traits that describe each character.

Writing: Students will use proper conventions in their daily writing journals. Students will continue to research and brainstorm about an animal that they will create a project about.

Social Studies Target: Students will take what they have learned about each branch of government and identify the similarities and differences between each branch.

Classroom Activities

*Students will create a self portrait and describe themselves in this art project using traits.
*Students will play a powerpoint game to identify and form irregular future tense verbs.
*Students will use vocabulary mapping and spelling sorts to understand their tier 2 vocabulary words and identify the various compound words in their spelling words in whole and small group.
*Students will be given different cards with aspects of the 3 branches of government and will identify which branch each card is referring to.

Assignments Due

*Wednesday 10/13: 3 Branches of Government Summative test (open notes)- a study guide will be sent home Monday also.
*Tuesday, Wednesday 10/12-10/13: Unit 2 Benchmark summative test
*Friday 10/15: Spelling and vocabulary tests
