Learning Targets and Learning Criteria

ELA learning target: Reading- Using anchor charts and visual instruction, students will identify the meaning of unknown words using 1 of 5 types of context clues.

Writing: Students will plan out their writing on what they are thankful for, edit it, and publish their final draft.

Social Studies Target: Students will understand the different levels of government and identify the similarities/differences between levels.

Classroom Activities

*Students will view a powerpoint with sample vocabulary words to practice identifying unknown words using context clues.
*Students will complete a writing about what they are thankful for.
*Students will use vocabulary mapping and spelling sorts to understand their tier 2 vocabulary words and identify the various compound words in their spelling words in whole and small group.
*Students will sum up all of their learning by taking a unit test on government.
