Learning Targets and Learning Criteria

ELA learning target: Reading- Using anchor charts and visual instruction, students will identify features of different types of poetry.

Writing: Students will work on animal research on a selected animal of their choice and work on their planning pages.

Social Studies Target: Students will learn about saving and spending money.

Classroom Activities

*Students will view a powerpoint with examples of different types of poetry and be provided with opportunities to identify which type of poetry it is based on the example.
*Students will complete planning pages for their future research paper on a zoo animal of their choice.
*Students will use vocabulary mapping and spelling sorts to understand their tier 2 vocabulary words and identify the various compound words in their spelling words in whole and small group.
*Students will learn about how spending and saving affects goods and services.
