Learning Targets and Learning Criteria

ELA learning target: Reading- Using anchor charts and visual instruction, students will compare and contrast 2 passages and learn key words to identify features that are the same and different

Writing: Students will work on their zoo animal research for an animal that they would like to research and complete notes about their features.

Social Studies Target: Students will learn about the characteristics of money and how it is portable, durable, and recognizable.

Classroom Activities

*Students will view a powerpoint to compare and contrast different passages and key words that help them figure out similarities and differences in each passage.
*Students will continue a research project about zoo animals by selecting an animal they want to research and reading an informational text in which they will take notes.
*Students will use vocabulary mapping and spelling sorts to understand their tier 2 vocabulary words and identify the various compound words in their spelling words in whole and small group.
*Students will learn about money and its characteristics and how different countries have different forms of currency.

*Formative assessment on money: Wednesday 2/2 (open notes)
