Learning Targets and Learning Criteria

ELA learning target: Reading- Using anchor charts and visual instruction, students will identify the central message and supporting details in a given text.

Writing: Students will use proper conventions in their daily writing journals. Students will write begin to write an expository text about a topic by brainstorming their ideas and developing a topic sentence.

Social Studies Target: Students will identify their rights and responsibilities in their home, school, and community.

Classroom Activities

Students will use their close reading strategies to and identify and annotate important central messages in various short reads of Animal Adaptations.
Students will practice identifying and utilizing prepositions during small group center rotations.
Students will use vocabulary mapping and spelling sorts to understand their tier 2 vocabulary words and identify the various short vowel patterns in their spelling words in whole and small group.
Students will read about rights and responsibilities in the home, school, and community setting and identify their role in each situation.
